A bunch of us are planning a little roadtrip to the location of our next race on Sat Nov 1st.

Destination: Toccoa, GA for some mountain biking on some great trails.

If you've never been out there it is worth the trip. It's a huge area of interconnecting trails that include both single track and forest road. I will have maps of the trail on the day of for anyone who wants to explore on there own or move at a faster or slower pace than the group. This plans on being a get rolling way-early and be there when the sun comes up. That way those of us that want to get back home to families will still have most of there Saturday.

If your coming let us know so you can grab a ride or meet us there.

Hey Guys, The tentative plan for the Dry Run to Currahee will be to meet at 5:15am at Town Center (for the Northwest ATL guys) at Starbucks next to Provino's off of Barrett Parkway. We'll then leave out at 5:30am to get there at sunrise.

The guys on the other side of town (you know who you are) are on your own! jk…Directions are below.

Looking forward to anyone who wants to join us for an action packed morning at Currahee…Contact Ragan or I if you're interested in joining us.

Directions

From Atlanta take Hwy 985/365 N. to Toccoa, take the Toccoa exit, at Jeanette Jamison Intersection turn right, take the first left on Hwy 184, look for sign for Frady Branch Trails. From South Carolina take Hwy 123 S. through Toccoa, at Jeanette Jamison Intersection go straight, turn left on Hwy 184 and look for Frady Branch Trails sign.

I am in.

Does anyone want to run before hand for an hour or so (5-7 miles) and then bike for two to three hours (15-20 miles) after that? If so, let me know and you can ride with me up and back. I can fit up to three bikes on my vehicle.

Looking forward to the 3 miles up/ 3 miles down!!!

Have you guys checked with the local game and wildlife division to see if hunting is going on that day?  Just a thought.

That could always be an element of surprise when you run into Billy Bob and a shotgun.

Have a great week,

Steve

I spoke with ranger Dave (seriously) this afternoon and he said that the trails would be open to bikers and horseback riders. He said while parts of the Russell Lake WMA will be open to hunters there “shouldn’t” be any of them near the trails.
He also suggested that we do not leave the trails dress all in brown, put sticks in helmets, and crawl on all fours while grunting…

…like last time.

thanks for Calling Ragan…Glad to hear we won't be getting shot at…

No need for you to wear your kevlar or come packing that day so leave your SWAT swag at home.

looking forward to the action packed (slightly less action packed but safer now) dry run at Currahee!

Hope everyone can make it!

Hey everybody,
This will be a great dry run for everybody who can make it…I am in…And Steve, I thought a good run just to start things off would be a run up Curahee Mountain… do a rapell on top…and then sprint back down as fast as we can …that should only take an hour or less I think…maybe push and do it in 30 min…What do you think…maybe faster than that…God Bless…Chris

Sounds good to me, only if we can eat some spaghetti on the way up in the morning.  why not add a climb while were up there since well have the harnests'?  3 miles up 3 miles down.

Thanks Ragan for calling and checking on the hunting situation.  I think we should bring a deer caller to throw off the hunters.  Do they make those type of things?

Chris I like the way you think.  Why not just rollerblade down the mountain.  It would be more 'extreme'.  We'll see you up there.

Hey guys I hope you are all pumped for this Saturday trip to Currahee.  If you are not riding with the main caravan then get directions here.  Looks like the weather is going to be awesome.  First light will be around 7:30 and sunrise at 7:54.  It will start out chilly but get to a Sunny 65 degrees.  It's going to be great weather!  I know we have heard a maybe out of Bob and Kyle.  Let us know.  Right now looks to be 7-8 guys committed.  The more the merrier!

What to bring:

Layers of Clothes:  You will start to shed as that sun comes up after those first miles

Fuel and Hydration:  We won't be able to get back to the cars until we're done riding

Tube and maintenance stuff:  We should be able to fix anything short of a frame snapping

I am in. I had talked to Scot about this. I have a trailer that we could put all of the bikes in to help cut down on the number of cars making the trip. I can take 3 to 4 guys with me. Just let me know.

Ragan do we have the logistics worked out? As far as when and where we are meeting?
