Had a chance this week to break a little from some of the other accountability stuff I've got going with some of you guys and slipped in 4 of a 5 part series on prayer. Very convicting. Usually prayer has been taught to me as “you need to do it more, you need to do it better, your not doing it right.” This was totally different and was taught right off of the three main prayers that Jesus prays in the gospels. The running theme have been as follows…

Prayer is not about getting around or out of something but God getting us through it.

Prayer is not suppose to be highly religious or formal or structured but honest and respectful. Like you would talk to your Dad.

Prayer is notabout asking (begging or forcing) God to do what we want but to bring us closer into God's will. The tighter we get with him the more we will desire and cope with what is coming our way anyway instead of trying ot be masters of our fate.

I'm was meditating on Ephesians 5:1-15 and I'm struggling with a section of verse 4 that the focus of my life should be about thanksgiving. The problem is my life is about winning and succeding. My goal in life is to succeed. Which is a good goal but a bad life focus according to scripture. The problem is that when I don't win/suceed it's very hard to be thankful. I'm working through a sort of reverse engineering of my life toward this biblical concept and I'm struggling. It's hard to be thankful in situations where I'm not getting 'what I want'. As long as I'm putting all my worth in my own successes it's hard to be thankful for what Jesus gives me.

Bottom line God can build me and grow me in all situations including my failures. I'm just having a hard time transitioning that from head knowledge to my daily expereince and mindset.

This is just a quick note to update the Daily Grinders: Since meeting Thu and sharing w y'all my need to pray more regularly (translated, “daily”) I've prayed yesterday and today (Fri and Sat) about 5~10mins each.

I don't want to post “I prayed today” everyday, but if I miss a day I'll let you know, and I'll post every 3~5 days. And don't be afraid to ask me Thu's if I've prayed recently, in fact…PLEASE ask me!

Thanks for the support.

Til next time…
